HI All,
New to this so bare with me. Recently purchased a 1976 25 HP Evinrude motor for our boat. When I get it running, runs great, trouble is getting it started. Seems that the timing lines do not line up "exactly" correct every time so it will not pull over. If I take the cover off and line them up exactly it pulls over great. Is there a way to adjust this? Or a different trick to starting it? Thanks for any input!

The sheave on the recoil is elliptical.-----The rope length must the correct to line up the arrows.

Thank you for your response. So what your saying is the rope could be the wrong length just enough to cause it to off alignment 1/4"?
If that is the case, do you happen to know the best way to fix this, do I need to take the whole recoil apart and measure the rope?
Again thank you!

No----When it is fully retracted those arrows must line up.-----Look for / find one arrow on housing and the sheave.----Remove handle to shorten rope if need be.
