I’m hopeful someone can help me. I’m at wits end with overheating on starboard side of my 1996 evinrude 115 (E115tleda). I will mention this has been run 100% of the time in fresh water.
Last fall I had my tell tail stop working the engine over heat. I replaced the impeller and thought everything thing would be good but no such luck. It the tell tail now works. I found that the port side is cool enough that I could touch after 10 minutes of idle but the starboard side was hot enough to burn you.
I then replaced the thermostats and springs as the one on the starboard side was stuck. However it still over heated at idle. Took off the hose that connected the to the thermostat housing and it over heats before it gets to the thermostats.
Next I pulled the head, cleaned everything up nice and flat, replaced the head gasket, deflector tubes and water gasket(?). Left the hose unbuckled from the thermostat housing for testing. But got the same result.
so this is where I sit right now. Hopefully someone can give me some direct as to what to do next. Thank you in advance for any direction you can provide.
