Approximate cost of new outboard ?

Considering some major changes to my mini fleet.

One option involves buying a new 40 or 50 hp tiller outboard next year.
Does anyone have any current real world selling prices for a Yamaha, Mercury,
or Suzuki elpt long shaft tiller ? Located in upper midwest great lakes region.

More if you get a brand new reject that has a defective part. That is not available.

Last i checked a 40hp Suzuki was in the $6,000 range. A tiller would be a little cheaper.

Well thats what I'm facing now with 2 of my 39 and 41 year old motors.

Trying to figure out if I can sell some boats and motors and have enough $$$ to buy either a new 30 hp for the 16'erm, or a new 60 hp for the 18'er.

Still gonna keep the 2 stroke kicker so I can get my TCW3 fix when needed.

Its not that I can't find the parts, so far.
But some are NLA new, and the time involved in finding used parts, and the time to do the work, and justifying the cost and time ....

Currently, the '84 Merc 35 needs a starter and gear set replaced in the lower.
Haven't found a replacement, so looking at new gears and parts - $$$$

The '90 Merc 15 no longer has neutral, suspect the spring is broke in the gearcase.

The '83 Johnson 15 only has pull start, shoulder no longer can do it, converting to electric start seems cost prohibitive. And its a short shaft which won't work on current boats.

The '86 Merc 115 "TOP" drinks like a sailor and needs a starter rebuild.

The '82 Merc 90 "TOP" needs most wiring replaced, and a new harness from engine to controls.

I think its time to fix what I can without spending too much cash, then sell.

Have a 14' Mirrocraft, a 15' Alumacraft, and a nice Grumman canoe that doesn't get enough use.

Just need to decide if I keep the 18' Starcraft, or the 16' Alumacraft.
Then buy a new motor for the one I keep.
I need to spend more time relaxing and fishing --less time fixing.
