Getting those 3M adhesive lumps smoothed down to the plywood decking. Not exactly smooth as the adhesive locations have small voids in the dried adhesive surface due to trapped air during application. I want to apply a sealer via brush over the decking/adhesive locations prior to applying decking covering. Would a couple of Spar Varnish coats be a good choice? Or, epoxy? Comments and suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Many thanks to you and Joyce! Happy Dyngus Day (wish we had some ***** willows in our yard). We love Michigan, and now that I'm not employed (first day in over 40 years), going to go to our shared Family place in the Adirondacks this week to start getting that place, boats, etc. ready for more Family and Friends up there.

Thanks for sharing your stories, I get the feeling we're right behind ya, as we've recently "turned the page". Your boat resto info. is most helpful too.

Continuing the work on the 3M adhesive/rivet locations and finding there are more mini voids than expected in the adhesive that actually lays within the pre drilled rivet holes. After a few tries at different adhesive knockdown methods using various sharp edged tools I calculated that I’d most likely be on my knees inside the boat working on those adhesive bumps until snow comes down again. Decided to get serious and speed this task up. So, an electric palm sander with 80 grit to knock the adhesive down and 120 grit for a little fine tuning and now I’m getting something done. Also made the decision to put a coat or two of West Systems Epoxy, brushed on and squeegeed, over the new plywood decking prior to attaching the final covering material. Well, I think it’s a good idea to go into town tomorrow so I can purchase new knee pads. Probably going to need ‘em.

Suggestions wanted for a very good primer/paint brand that I can use on the inside aluminum hull surface above the decking, etc., and perhaps the bilge pump area. I plan on painting those areas a light color prior to adding items back onto the boat. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I used the Rustoleum Universal Alkyd Primer and topcoated with Kush paints. Seems to be a good bond and has held up well in the garage, but I haven't had my boat in the water yet. Kush is very helpful if you call them as well. Good prep is the key with any primer/paint, but especially important with aluminum.
