I have a 1988 60 hp mercury outboard. I do not have the type of remote that has the push in key choke. Does that mean I have the fuel enrichener? or some type of electric choke?

Most Merc controls have either a separate push button for choke or push the key in for choke. Your motor has the electric solenoid, but the drawings are unclear if you have a traditional choke plate or enrichener. It doesn't really matter much as both work fine.

Remember when cold starting, prime the engine, pull up the cold start lever, hold the choke button and crank her until she fires.

But there is no choke button.

Make sure your key push mechanism is not stuck or frozen up. With no separate button, the key should move in and spring back out. I have a 1992 and the key mechanism moves in and out.

I'll check that out. Thanks
