Hi all first post and warning kind of a long one (sorry) i have Acquired a free for restore 1986 "Marathon" (Brand i assume on the hull?) Sports Boat? Im guessing that's what it would be classified as. With a O.M.C. Cobra (not sure if its King Cobra or anything else.) 4.7L V8. I am trying to find spec or build or anything information related as documents go that could be useful when restoring this. I was hoping someone may have access to or know where to find this information (possibly even have one of these boats and have said information and could provide a scan copy.) i have tried contacting to find if they are the manufacturer or could provide some information NBC Boat Works llc inc. which is what the HIN comes back as and was told he did not make boats in the 80's and some of the early 90's and that the 3 digit company code belonged to a different manufacturer prior. (Of course he didn't know or just didn't say who it belonged to.) i tried contacting Marathon Boat group the said they were not the manufacturer of the boat either and had directed me after checking the hid to contact NBC Boat Works as that was what the HIN came back as. Does anybody know anything about this boat or anything about where i can get find the earlier mentioned information on this boat? I can provide the HIN number if needed i will attach the decoded hid to start if any information to aid with all of this just let me know and if i can provide it i will try.

Welcome aboard. You're probably spinning your wheels. Marathon was a builder back in the trailer boat days, and they've been gone for quite a while. Boats didn't have a lot of documentation on their builds (typically). Not like a car manual or anything.

You're probably going to do better posting some photos up here and asking some direct questions.

The drive should be pretty easy to figure out. Check the color of the stern drive (might have been some Stringers still around in '86), and then look for an ID tag / Number on your engine.
