Boat floor soft only around ski locker

I just uncovered my boat for the first winter after I bought it, its a 1995 Sea Ray 180, im currently in the process of fixing the passenger front bow seat because the wood on the backing of the seat is rotten. Walking up and down the boat i noticed that the area withing a couple inches of the ski locker was a bit soft, the floor everywhere else is solid.

Before i put it away last year i tore the carpet out of the ski locker because Idk why anyone would want it there it just holds moisture.

I noticed its not just one floor but rather there's a couple of pieces that surround the ski locker thats connected to the floor. Is this a (moderately) easy fix?

The floor on a boat is the last thing to rot after the transom and stringers.

Everything you need is in this sticky.

Start with link 14. Read it thru in its entirety

That's how mine was....just a little too flexible around the ski locker. Turned out large swaths of the floor, most of the stringers, and some of the transom was rotten too. If it's flexible, the wood has already turned to mulch. The parts that feel solid now are likely also at an advanced stage of rot....just not turned to mulch yet.

It's a big project. You can see the link in my signature for pics.

As Scott mentioned, there is probably a lot more rot than meets the eye. You will need to check transom and stringers before proceeding if you want to do it right. Then decide if you want to spend the time and money on this particular boat.

I had an '88 SeaRay with a ski well. When they installed the ski well cover they cut the plywood decking out, but did not seal the edges of the plywood. Moisture founds it's way in and rot ensued.

Unfortunately, the moisture also rotted the floor of the ski well and the keel support under it. I found out the extent of the rot when I jacked the bow up for bottom paint, as the vee of the hull collapsed

I would recommend you check these items out, before deciding on a fix.

yea same here the edges werent glassed and the water snuck in. I had a look under and the rot only goes about 3-4 inches from the ski locker, nothing else is rotted. Past that 5 inches, the floor is solid. And the ski locker is entirely glassed. I cant see any exposed stringers. How do i tell

posting some pictures would really help folks here see what you are seeing. I am wondering if the boat had a deck-over in the past to cover up what lurks below.

Take a look at the stringers . . . even do a core sample to see if things are solid beneath the floor.
