Hi all,

I have a 5.7L Mercruiser with a water leak in the bilge when running. It’s a small leak and the bilge pump handles it, but it’s not ideal. Only happens while the engine is running, then drains out for about 8mins. It looks like it might be coming from what should be a drain plug? However they’re appears to be some sort of quick connect system rather than a simple plug. This is on the starboard side, same side as the gear lube.

I’m not sure how I would tighten this down… as it seems to be coming from the connector itself, not necessarily where it threads into the engine. Any thoughts?

Probably a damaged plastic drain plug.

Ahh that is probably easily fixed BUT what’s happening with that engine mount pad? Looks like moisture got in, froze & expanded & cracked the ‘glass

Engine mount pad might be an end of the year issue that we have repaired, I believe that it most superficial not super deep.

How do I go about stopping the leak? I’m not entirely sure if that’s supposed to be a plug or what it is. That little valve has an electrical hook up on the back. It’s hard to tell if it’s just simply missing a plug, but if that were the case I would expect water to pour out of it, not just leak out the side..

that picture looks like the core of the engine mounting pad is rotten

to stop the leak, you put the drain back in the Y-fitting
