Raw water pump seal on 2012 V8 5.7L

I see some dripping from the raw water pump after shutting down the engine. I was hoping it was the O-ring for the outer housing but the sealing area of the outer housing looked fine as did the O-ring.

So now I think it's the shaft seal. Hopefully the leaking seal has not allowed damage to the bearing.

It does not look like too much work to replace the seal. The bearing would be more work.

A new pump is $500.

Sending it out for a rebuild is $200.

Has anyone needed to replace the seal because of a drip or leak? Was the bearing still good?

a new pump is only $175

look up Johnson pumps. you have either a Johnson F5B-9 or the slightly longer F6B-9. the longer (higher flow) F6B-9 is about $80 cheaper than the F5B for some reason. rebuild kits are reasonable too.

dont pay volvo for the same pump you can buy yourself.

This is the raw water pump. It's a 2011 boat with the engine replaced under warranty in 2012 and I believe some parts from original engine were bolted onto new engine.

Engine is FWC.

look at the cover on your pump. it will have Johnsons part number on it.
