Nosing down

Hey folks. Ok so I recently put together a Frankenstein boat. An aluminum v14 tracker w a 50hp Johnson. Runs like a top but when it gets up to speed it is nose down at full throttle. Seems very dangerous. Can anybody tell me how I could fix this issue. Appreciate you letting me run this by yall

If tilt pin is in the hole closest to the transom , move it away by 2 holes.-----Test run.

Ayuh,..... If that doesn't work, use a straight edge to make sure the bottom / keel line is straight for the aft 4' to 6',........
If it ain't, a hogged bottom will cause it to nose dive like that,....

Hooks can be caused by allowing TOO MUCH of a boat to hang out past the trailer supports.

The Hook would be your problem. Get a "yardstick" or suitable 3' or so straight edge and get under the boat with one end of the stick at the rear edge of the transom and the other parallel to the keel pointed forward. The Hook will easily show up as a gap like in the Hook picture.

If that passes, then as others have indicated the tilt pin needs to be moved away from the transom causing the engine to tilt in the forward direction at the top and the propeller to move back and away from the transom.

If you get it too far out, at high speeds the bow (front) of the boat will bounce up and down (porpoise) vs your current "plowing" problem.

Thank you guys for all the info. I'm gonna test drive it next Weekend and see if the pin being moved fixes it

If you haven't trimmed the motor back then this is absolutely your main (and easiest) problem. 50hp is a lot of power for only a 14ft boat, so you need to ensure that you've got the setup right.

Modern motors have power tilt/trim but the older motors have manually adjustable pins. As you add more weight (people/gear) into the front of the boat, you'll need to trim the motor out/back further and further.

Power trim has a place with a 50. Back strain is real with them.
If the pin does not have a chain on it ???
Be careful not to drop it. Replacement might be difficult.
