Had a rod knocking in my 1985 Mercruiser 470
I bought another 470 and I suspect is a bit older
Serial number on the valve cover is gone so don't know the year
Question:
Will these drive couplers interchange and work with the outdrive shaft on my 1985 470
Coupler 1 is the same as my 1985 470
Coupler 2 is like the one on the engine I bought

Ayuh,...... The outdrive won't care, but the motor might with the set-back on the long, : short coupled,......
The crankshaft bolt pattern should also be the same,....

OIC, the bell housings might be different lengths
The engine I bought didn't come with the bell housing so just used the one off my original engine with the longer coupler
Makes sense now as I couldn't get the outdrive to slide in all the way, lacking about 3'' for it to seat.
Time to pull the engine again and swap the flywheel and couple
