What is this reservoir for? Coolant? Where does the line run to?

Hello peoples! I’m new to boating and I got this boat for free. However I can’t seem to find what this bottle is for or where it was connected. It is currently disconnected and don’t know what it was filled with.

I’m assuming it is for coolant but I’m not sure. Please help or link any diagrams, if any…

Free boats can be very expensive. It is hard to say what that line/tube is without seeing it. Sound like drive lube reservoir though . . . :unsure:

Ayuh,....... Welcome Aboard,...... That's for gear oil, for the outdrive,.....

Be sure the line is still attached to the bottom of the resivoir and to the drive. It’s possible that someone replaced the drive and it doesn’t need it anymore. Or you have a leaky drive, or it wasn’t filled properly before. Seeing it’s a new to you boat, you should do the drive service and remove it for a good alignment and service. We can walk you through it. Check out the stickies at the top of the forums here and study them up.
