You won’t see me anywhere near a lake on a holiday. Being retired I avoid holidays and the weekends, I fish weekdays only.
Not that I wasn’t part of the weekend warriors when I was working. I was out there in the fray.

I may take the peddle boat to the tiny local lake. If I do I gotta put the new crank seals in. But I’m not taking a motorized boat anywhere near a launch. Too much hassle launching ontop of a crowded lake

I guess most of my life i had schedules flexible enough to take one weekday off or something and I was an early Sunday morning person. The true idiots didn't get out until after church or whatever. Those are the scary ones, and most anyone on a holiday.

I prefer week days too but mostly because we are not quick on the ramp and its just easier to avoid others when its busy ......and busy here might see 12-15 trailers in the park ( so its full )

Back in 89 were we’re out on the 4th of July and got rammed by a Yahoo on a jet ski. That caused us to crash into the bridge. I was tossed out of the boat and ripped my leg open on the way over the center console broke free and pinned driver to the floor the 2 other guys panicked and jumped out leaving him alone and trapped while running about half throttle on to the beach. It’s a miracle that no one was on that section of beach when he went ashore. He tried to kill the motor and the dame key broke off so he managed to pull the fuel line and waited for the motor to die.
I was the only one hurt out of all this well and the boat. This happened in longboat pass in Fl if anyone is familiar that area. The tide was ripping like crazy. The boat went ashore in Bradenton beach and by the time I made it shore on was on Beer Can island on the longboat key side.
I haven’t gone out on a holiday since.
Safe travel to all and good luck.
Ah tphoyt I feel for you Buddy.
In June 09, low altitude flying on my Ducati 900SS (bevel ) seaton Valley road and I came over the top of a humpty hill to find a car in my lane reversing back up the hill ,car coming the other way in other lane so I goes for the gap rather than braking , thats when I realised the car reversing towards me in my lane was also zig zagging . We zigged and zagged but I slammed into him at about 80mph .
Top to bottom I broke all the ribs on my left side , 4 vertebrae lower back, both sacra iliac joints, right hip ,shattered right femur, tib , fib and all the bones in my right foot and most of the bones in right hand , ripped left knee apart. Ruptured liver ,spleen , colon ,small intestine ,contused pancreas ,nearly bit my tongue right off and my teeth dont "mesh" like they used to . After 29 separate surgeries including grafting my right fibia into where the 5 inches of missing femur was ( they found bits of it on the road )I made the decision to chop off my right leg above mid thigh.
And I find out the guy who took me out had already killed someone else driving like a #uckwitt.
Anyhow after watching the hurt spread out over friends and family like ripples on a pond I just decided that I wasnt going to let this guy take any more off me . I got back on the bikes (1974 Guzzi 850t ) and I still do as much as I could ....just takes longer or a bit of help.
Go somewhere quiet on the water , take a friend for support (getting back on the horse can quite emotional ) be and do what you used to enjoy😁

To be clear, no disrespect to church people, just that is what happens. Like if I wanted to go to lunch on a Sunday, ain't happening for the same overcrowding with people that do not go to restaurants enough to know how to do it properly. Now back in the days when I went to church, total respect for the ones that brought their boat to service. We were about 40 min to a nice, mostly quiet lake and the church (big one) made a dedicated gravel, pull thru lot that held prob 30 rigs. Those guys rarely stayed for Bible study....

Man that’s a rough one. Glad you pulled through.
I had no problem getting back out there I just don’t enjoy crowds no matter where they are and have no desire to go looking for them😂

Sunday breakfast is before 9 if I go out. (Nice and quiet) when I am at work, you can actually watch system demand tick up around 8 and 10... about when people would get ready for mass and when it ends. Coincidentally that is the same time I get the absolute most irate of customer calls.

I was watching some pommy program where the power suppliers have to plan for ½ time in their premier league football games coz the viewers all get up and put the kettle on . Dunno what it is with pomms and cups of tea .......it doesnt fix everything 😁 The Scotts have it sussed , cant beat a single malt 😁

For many years I worked on my home lake at least two out of three, usually all three, trying to keep the crazies in line. I vowed once I retired I would never go out on a weekend again. Memorial Day was the worst because people would not check out their boats and launch with dead batteries, water in gas, etc. and expect us to help. Once electronic ignitions and controls became standard we even quit carrying jumper cables for liability issues. Would try to act more like law enforcement than Seatow however towards the end of my career they finally got a marina operator who had mechanics and would tow and had access to our radio channel.
