4.3L Carb Float height

Good Morning,

Does anyone know the correct float height for 4.3L mercarb?

TSB 97-8 (created June 1999) says 9/16 float level and 1 3/32 drop.

My service manual has same numbers in the spec part in the carb section BUT in the carb assembly section it gives a float level of 11/32 and drop of 15/16. The manual is dated November of 1999, so printed after the TSP? Is one a typo?

So which one is correct for the level and height?

I searched this forum and couldn’t find specific answer. I found an exact same situation, but it was for a TKS, which I don’t have, and didn’t know Id that mattered.

Seems some of it may depend on what design needle and seat your carb has and probably the year/serial number you have too.

Generally the service bulletin is more accurate when there’s a discrepancy in the manual.

By chance do you know where the setting measurement was when you opened it up for reference points?

depends on if you have a spring loaded needle and seat or not
