Anybody have experience rebuilding the round U joint bellows mounting flange? busted u-joint hand-grenaded my flange.

Welding, brazing, JB welding? Obviously the surest way to do it is buy new or used gimbal housing but that is a TON of work and expense.

The only thing I would consider is welding and even then you will have to think about heat soaking. Some pictures would help others determine what your options really are.

Thanks. Will have pics soon. I too am concerned about heat soak from welding, as I would like to leave my water pick up tube attached to transom. I can easily remove and redo gear oil line.

What other items back there are vulnerable to heat soak? Guess I should pull gimbal bearing out if welding near there. Anything else to be concerned with getting hot?

Anything plastic so if your water tube is plastic and the little plastic or rubber grommet things that holds the trim sending wires.

I was more thinking about the gasket to the transom though.

You can try running cool water over the parts you want to keep cool while you weld.
