I have twin 2005 Volvo Penta 4.3L GXi-E engines (port SN: 4012037869). I'd like to set up a gateway to view my engine paramenters on my fishfinder control head.
Which one should I get? Does each engine need it's own unit? Where does the unit get connected on the engine?
Thanks for any info

Welcome
Your serial number (tanks for providing) list part number 3858888 which is a MEFI but unsure if it's a 3 or 4 model. Either way you will need a gateway connection to use.

MEFI's are not great with providing much data and if the gateway's that are available work, I'm unsure. Suggest contacting a place like Fox Marine and see what they can offer. Never done business with them, just found them searching

I have a 2001 5.7GXi-A. Contacted Fox Marine and they knew exactly what I needed. Easy install. Works Great. Turned an old cruiser into my "Glass Cockpit" pride and joy.

My guess is that your engine uses a MEFI 4. My 2002 Volvo 5.7Gi-B also uses a MEFI-4. You can remove the 2 or 3 mounting screws and look at the label on the back of the unit. It will say which MEFI version it is. I have also been looking at the Fox-Marine unit, but haven't done it yet. If you go that way and connect to your graph/chartplotter, also download the app from Fox-Marine for your tablet, smart phone, or laptop so you can see much more info through a bluetooth connection than is shown on your dash-mounted electronics.
