The key will be prep.....

You will need the entire boat sanded and ready. Hang the boat from the transom and bow eyes.

Spray as much of the boat in one shot that you can so you do not waste product by cleaning the gun.

Spray everything from the rub rail down, then the cap from the rub rail up

Then spray the interior

To catalyze the Duratec and gelcoat, do I add MEKP for the volume of the gel only or the entire volume?
I just went to the Duratec site. I downloaded the instructions. Google is my friend.....lol

Ok, Thanks Scott. I am jumping the gun a bit, but I will shoot the Cobalt blue gel I have on hand today. I will gelcoat the sides for a test to see if I like it.

Shot a test side. I wiped the sides down with acetone, yet I still got fish eye. Will sand and re wipe with wax and grease remover.

If you are not using a desiccant filter and water filter on the air line , you may be spraying the oil from the hose.

I have my air dryer on. It has water, oil and particulate filters, then after the regulator I have more filters. I think I should have used my Proform wax and grease remover. Or I very likely missed some spots.

Well..... I washed the other side down with wax and grease remover. Same fish eye. Would too old of Duratec do this? My sealed can was 2.5 years old.
I ordered a new air line just to be on the safe side.....never used this line for painting before.

What do others use for anti slip on gel coats? I have my back platform that needs to be sanded and a few holes repaired. I need some sort of grip for wet feet.

1. There's some stuff called webbing solution. It's an additive that will make the gel lay out sort of stringy. Kind of like if you drizzled a brush over it. I haven't used it myself.

2. You can add sand into it to give it a rough texture when you spray it. It won't take much.

3. You can use some spongy material to dab the gel on and give it a texture. Just be sure you still get it thick.

That's what I can think of.

Thanks, Mike,
I think sand would best suit the area. Has any used SoftSand Rubber Particles SR-101 Non-Skid Coatings?

Look at the link in my signature about page 15. I made a thickened gel, troweled it on, then waited until it kicked and used a bed liner roller to pull peaks.

Followed by a light spray

Thanks, Scott.
Very nice and meticulous work you performed on your boat. What did you use to sand your floor? I still have old glue from the carpet, but it is dry now.
Perhaps I will try the thickened gel, as you and Mike have suggested.

I am also customizing the dash and passenger side dash. The new gauges will not fit the old layout. I will also change the seating from bench seating to buckets and a bench with a large sun pad. The sun pad will have a lift actuator to raise it for maintenance on the engine, and storage on the side of the engine bay.

An old picture of the interior of my boat. I want to make side panels of fibreglass. I picked up some 5/32 thick Meranti plywood. Would 2 layers of 1.5oz chop strand mat with 17oz 0-90 glass in the middle be strong, light enough. I will make arm rests made of vinyl and foam for comfort. This is my template.
