After hours upon hours of research, it appears no one else has had this problem. I own a 1979 classic Mercruiser stern drive handed down to me from my pop. We like to call it vintage. On our last adventure with this beaut the up trim continues to run after releasing the button. It does not do this with the down trim. This is what I've tried thus far:
1) To stop it, we disconnect the negative and when reconnecting it's not longer initiated
2) Checked the fluid level and it's good
3) Checked all connections at the trim motor (not within the control lever)
4) Hit up and pulled the 3-prong plug at the trim motor and it still continued to go up after pulling the plug, which makes me think that it's not the switch on the control arm (correct? or no?)
5) Tapping on the solenoid while trimming up
I'd appreciate any advice from anyone willing to share their experience/expertise. Thanks in advance!
