Hello
I have a 1976 Evinrude with 75 hp which has difficulties accelerating.
It fires and idles fine, and even revs all the way when not in gear.
However once in gear in the water and in gear, it starts to die out when i accelerate all the way.

Video of the issue

Things i've tried:
Carburetors: Have been cleaned, although they where clean to begin with.
Fuel pump: The diaphragm is intact.
Timer advance base: I realized the timer base under the flywheel was sticking. It now runs smoothly, but the problem still persists.

Question for you
There seem to be quite some gap between the throttle cam and the throttle cam follower, could this cause the issue?
Any suggestion is mellow

Did you do a link and sync after cleaning the carbs? Sounds like it’s starving for air.

I have not, that may be it.
Do you know the timing advance degrees for idle and Wide Open Throttle for this model?
I know how to adjust the idle timing advance, but the only way i have found to do a wide open throttle timing adjustment seems to be in gear with WOT, which seems a bit dangerous as demonstraited in this video

I do not and timming should be fine if you didn’t mess with it.
What your after is getting all the throttle plates to open at the same and correct time. With the cam follower being off I suspect they are not.
