Prop shaft broken at Cotter pin hole

I was changing the prop on my 2004 Suzuki df90 and the prop shaft split when I went to insert the cotter pin.
The end broke off up to middle of cotter pin hole. I could get the nut back on but not overly confident of the prop staying put. Anyone have some idea other than threadlock glue to keep it on?

Self locking nut

tack weld the nut in place. the shaft is shot anyway

Your probably right, my 250HP Verado only uses a lock nut and concave washer to hold prop on, but I also have fine thread

I'm hoping to do a job on the water to knock season out of it. Hopefully similar will work with some serious thread glue..

drill a hole right thru the flats of the nut and the shaft and put a pin in there.

Or remove the shaft and have a machine shop weld it up and re-machine it to make it like original.
I'm on my first cup of coffee so be easy on me.

Do you have room for a tab washer to fold over the nut?
