Is the starter not turning? Or are you referring to a different solenoid? Could be a bad spot in the starter winding and it stopped at the dead spot.

It cranks just fine just no fire. No voltage to the coil no voltage all the way to the solenoid. I jumpered the connection on the solenoid and got voltage to the coil but still no fire. I am having a video chat with a master craft expert this afternoon

So yesterday I put the new prop on the Honda on the pontoon. Celebrating the successful repair of the ski boat let's go for a pontoon ride it will be soothing. Fire up the motor put it in reverse nothing reeves but no prop spin. foolishly pushed off before engaging the motor so there was some anchor tossing to get back to the dock. My wife little did I know is an outboard trouble shooting expert figured the lower unit is shot and it will be expensive and there will be no pontoon for the big bash next weekend.

This morning after I waited for the sun to come up went down to the dock and pondered, lower units do not fail quietly and things seize up. What I have is a shifting problem with the cables. That being said trouble shooting, inspection and repair will be done standing balls deep in water standing on slippery rock. Hopefully the horse flies will come and help while I am getting nipped on by sunfish.

When it rains it pours sometimes.
