May I practice this on your car first?
water or a mix of water and methanol injected into the intake has long been a solution to detonation in hi compression turbocharged engines ( Im sure the jetfire Oldsmobile turbo engine came with water /methanol injection as standard equipment .....you had to keep the reservoir full ) and if you have even seen the piston top and combustion chamber in the head of an engine that has coolant getting into the combustion chamber you would see how clean they are. If you suspect dieseling because of hot carbon deposits injecting a mist or fine spray of water into the intake will indeed clean things up well. I have seen peeps using a windscreen washer pump , and a garden mister nozzle over the carb inlet hooked up to a micro switch so as to turn on pump at or near full throttle .:)

I know it's a thing. I just haven't heard it suggested in about 30 years.
I've used it within the last 10 years so the technology still works...

Decarbonizing definitely helped on my 3.0, I did this with seafoam (Water, seafoam, or GM top engine cleaner all work well), I also fattened up my idle mix a bit. is your engine running cool as if it is hot sure to impeller wear that will help as you have seen cool down help.

How many of us can feel a difference after driving in VERY HEAVY rain conditions ?
Cant say as I have noticed that but both my diesel work van (automatic .....absolute pig of a thing) and my Ducati ran noticeably better early on a cold or frosty morning

Cooler/Colder Air is Denser, thus has more O2 per, whatever unit you want to measure it by, thereby making a bit more Power.
Rainstorms often drop the Air Temp by several Degrees, and that to leads to a better feeling engine.

Yeah , funny tho that I never notice that in any car ( Im sure the o2 sensors must tell the ecu bla bla bla ) but on a carbed motorbike it shows a difference . Ironic that I wait for a nice day .... when it dont run so crisp and spend half the trip lamenting it :):)
