Hi all,
Back again with yet another issue. Late start to the season for me but started it off with a hull repair and water distribution housing repair.

Just as I'm about to get water ready (finally) for the season I remembered I also had a PS leak. Reservoir is nearly empty and by "feel" it seems to be coming off of the bottom of the pump/reservoir (assuming this entire unit is just called a pump, even though they are kind of combined?). The steering never got stiff on me at any point so I only noticed this when I was back there fixing other things. And I'm pretty positive I ruled out the possibility of it being a hose/clamp last fall but will double check.

I've seen another thread here where someone recommends using an automotive PS pump from Napa, Carquest etc. Going OEM is a bit steep for this part for me so I'm seeing what my options are. I know my first move is to inspect it/remove it and determine where exactly the leak is coming from.

Is it possible to get a rebuild kit for these? Or have it rebuilt at a shop? It seems like the answer is no for available rebuild parts for this..

If the above isn't possible, I suppose my next question would be is it a viable option to go with a remanned one from Napa or the likes (and as the other thread mentions, making sure I keep the original parts for use with the new pump).

And finally, is ATF acceptable for this or should I be using synthetic PS fluid or something?

Any advice is much appreciated!
Cheers!

You can use a auto PS pump just keep the pressure regulator from the old pump. The reg is the big nut on the back where the line screws into

Yes use Dexron Trans fluid
