Another AI thing is some of the captions on tv where its obvious that AI is converting voice to written when we are told that someone rang "nine hundred and eleven" and not 911 or when the written captions are non sensible , like its miss-heard what was said and then writes what it sounded like. Most of the time you can decipher it .

AI is what will destroy human kind as we know it....this will be making decisions for us just like our gov't does....big brother knows best !! Just ask them......…
i believe there is merit to the above statement. If you want to understand the ultimate power of AI watch the 1968 movie 2001 A Space Odyssey. This was before people had ever heard of AI or knew what it was. A large part of the movie was about AI and the Hal9000 computer. The ultimate AI computer. Programmed with human emotions and traits A computer that decided to kill humans rather than let them find out that Hal had errored. The computer became more important than the wellbeing and lives of the human crew. While doing graduate work I wrote a paper on this movie.
A great and classic movie. Watch the movie now a days knowing what you know about AI and it will scare the **** out of you.

Star Trek, the original series, had a similar episode about an out of control computer running the Enterprise. M-5 was in "The Ultimate Computer" episode in March 1968, a few weeks before 2001: A Space Odyssey was released.

I was fortunate enough to see 2001: A Space Odyssey at the Uptown Theater in DC with my father in 1968 when it came out. Amazing theater which was open for 80 years, but closed in 2020. I also saw Thunderball there. As a 12 y.o. boy, that movie impressed me too!

I took my 2 young daughters (one 9, the other 13) to the Uptown in 1997 when Star Wars was re-released in the Special Edition. Most enjoyable.

AI is in the very earliest stages of development now. Much like autos were over 100 years ago. It has a long way to go.

Things that so not end well .... Allowing AI to remain unfettered, allowing AI to self drive vehicles, allowing scientists to clone dinosaurs, allowing the following to become true. "Big Brother is watching you," "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength," and "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

We as a species are at the intersection of Terminator meets 1984 meets Jurassic Park meets maximum overdrive

and all I can do is what I'm doing, or not doing.
No social media accounts. No giving phone # or zip code for purchases. No apple car play/ profile connection registration in the new toyota. No apple nothing actually, 'cept IPhone , but with every auto reporting, position, locating, ident, thing I can think of turned off. No real ID, No pic taking at the airport. No swiping my driver's license into computers.
No lane correct, lane monitoring, etc. Can't turn off adaptive cruise control,
I didn't need the $10,000 extended warranty plan any more than I needed the $3000 one....$10,000 😳
I don't need a synthetic voice to soothe me.
I got a boat. šŸ˜‚

My 84 year old father is a retired IBMer and has always been an early adopter. He live alone much of the time so he like to keep his mind sharp. He is getting smarter and sharper as he ages. Kinda scary. He is a get off my lawn dude but still...

He started using copilot awhile ago and likes to challenge 'her'. Sometimes 'him' he posts many to his blog and sends me many as well. Here is this morning email/blag post.

****there is political opinion in this post**** Reminder to NOT bring it here. This is about AI.

A different forum that I belong to just introduced an AI entity (Fora Frank) to answer posts that haven't been answered in a day or to answer questions when tagged. Guys went for 4 pages asking it questions after it made a glaring mistake, saying there was no such thing as an HK CC9. Flora finally acquiesced and admitted (sort of) that it was wrong. The moderators do not have the authority to ban Fora either... It is causing quite a stir over there! We are up to 7 pages since yesterday!

people arguing with AI for 7 pages....... that makes as much sense as Amish Plumbers and Amish Electricians working on RV's.... Think about that for a moment

It is actually pretty humorous ... The Bot said that Joe Biden was our current president, HK CC9's don't exist and were an April Fools joke ... and several other mistakes that show how wrong it is ...
