is it possible to put a 78 140 v4 powerhead on a 1988 v4 90 body? I did not follow my gut and did not delete the vro and it locked the piston and threw the piston rod through the side of the motor. I have a 78 140 hp evinrude. The pateerns look the same i just want to keep my tilt and trim on the 88.

Why do you blame the vro?

Well the Exhaust Tuner in the Midsection is a different Part #. Same goes for the Exhaust Housing Adapter(might have something to do with the Tuned Exhaust)

Gasket is the same , so it might work.
