Transon mounted trolling motor

I have 21 center console boat.
I have an 80 trust on the front with foot control. I want to add a hand sterring clamp style on the transom. Will a
50 lb. Work the slowly move my boat I want an pilot but now is not the time.
Im looking for a used one.

As long as wind and waves are not strong, yes it will push your boat, but not fast ! Back in the day, I had an 18' center console with a 36# MK trolling motor and trolled for walleye with it for years. Probably only a couple mph but it worked. V you could use both front and rear trolling motors for excellent steering and more speed..

Transom motors are USELESS in any wind or currents. The bow is always pulling straight ahead. The transom motor is always pushing a boat not pointing straight ahead.

Used one for years without any serious issues, but wind pushes these tinnies around no matter what. My bow mount is easier to control over the transom mount, but...if the poster already has a bow mount then adding a transom mount will make steering a breeze

So no one back trolls? There are lots of boats with wave wackers and those transom mounted trolling motors around here but they all back troll.
