That is like the lock I use on the coupler on my boat trailer. I have a pin lock to use on dove tail. I also have a ball lock to install when I’m not using the trailer. All are easy to get around if thieves are equipped. They even have an adapter that lets them hook up to a locked coupler and drive away without cutting or breaking anything. It bypasses needing the ball somehow.

Trailers are not registered here and are frequently stolen. I didn’t realize it until after mine was stolen but trailer serial (vin?) numbers are not stamped onto a trailer anywhere. They just have a sticker with the identification number so once the sticker is removed there is no way to know which trailer it is.

The thieving SCUMBAGS are always stealing stuff at ramps.

I replaced m stolen NEW winch strap with a old piece of shtty dock line. I never did get to catch the thief doing it to someone else.I had several bricks ready for a payback.

I need to change out my strap. 22yrs old. Getting a little crisp.
Been using one of these since I was 16...
I use these on my boat and snowmobile trailers. However, I quickly realized that they are not salt-resistant. The snowmobile lock didn't even last a season, so now I tow with a standard pin in the coupler and then put the lock on once it gets to its destination.

I've never tried using one during salt season....

That was the lock that I used on my sled trailer prior to the current one. It rusted within months as well. There's a huge difference between being towed in a saltwater environment and being pelted by road salt kicked up by your tires for 500 miles.

I caught a couple thieves stealing the wheels off my car one time years ago when I lived in town. Funny story, I posted it before on here.
Thieves suck!
