Motor lift plate

I bought a c ouple of 96 johnson 200. They are 25 in. My boat is 20 in. I have found lift plates to raise it 5 inches, that are rated for 225. They look like 12 aluminum angle iron. Jas any one ever used them? I have seen manual jack plates, are they necessary?

I've had, have two on my 115's

I believe you order them based on your HP. I could be wrong

They say they will hold 225

They look a little scary but I've never had a problem with mine. 25 inch 115 E-tec on a 20 inch transom. The good thing is, it tilts way out of the water when you tilt it up.

manual Jackplates, right? They will move center of balance back a bit and the boat will set a bit lower in the water, at the stern.
