With Christmas behind us, my daughter and her husband left and headed back to Denver. And I got 15 of the 37 items on my outdoor work done!

So today, with the help of my assistant, I had a chance to get that box open for a look. 😸

Lots of paperwork included. :sneaky:

I used my test battery and got it hooked up. Pretty darned impressive! Demo mode showing.

Multi-tasking is a lie..... best you can do is switch-tasking. especially on the throne......
Scott, I'll respectfully disagree. Multi-tasking is possible. It's just that not very many people can do it.

When I was working as a Mission Controller at JPL, I simultaneously monitored 11 voice networks while watched a dozen data screens. It was like a fusion of everything but I, and others like me, understood what was going on with the spacecraft, ground system, NASA Deep Space Network as well as the other teams in the room with me (us). My favorite job in the space biz.

I posed the question to AI and got this response:
Monitoring 11 voice networks while watching multiple data screens is unequivocally a complex form of multitasking. This activity requires concurrent attention to various streams of information and the ability to process, prioritize, and respond to multiple inputs simultaneously, which is a key characteristic of multitasking [1, 2].
It involves a high cognitive load due to the need to:

  • Monitor diverse audio channels (the 11 voice networks).
  • Observe and interpret various visual inputs (the data screens).
  • Synthesize information from both sources.
  • Switch attention rapidly and effectively between different tasks as required.
This scenario describes a high-demand operational environment, similar to roles in air traffic control, emergency dispatch, or command and control centers, where the ability to manage multiple simultaneous information feeds is critical.

So you can listen to 11 people talk at the same time, and see 12 things at once, and comprehend what you are seeing and hearing ?

You keep telling yourself that.
Its been disproved many times.
You may be fast at switching between said tasks, but you are not doing them simultaneously.

And current forms of AI are plagued with lots of false results.

Now, when is this boat going to be done. There are fish to catch.

After 4 months, I'm back. 😁

Got plenty of outdoor work done on the ol' homestead while the weather was cool/cold. It's starting to warm up now, so I switched back to the boat.

I'm concentrating on the boat and will continue until it's done and on the water again.

Back on Post #284, I was talking about my new Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 sonar/fishfinder unit. Got to thinking about it and realized that my little Garmin Striker 4+ wasn't going to work in my new situation. It doesn't have built in charting, so I couldn't use it at the helm and it doesn't have FFS, so I don't want to use it for the trolling motor spot. So, I'm giving it to my neighbor buddy.

Solution? Bought another EE9 when they went on sale on Valentine's Day!
Mocked them up this morning.

Got some other stuff done today too.

And here I am again. Have done even more outside work, including laying 2 pallets of new sod by the new front steps and nearby area. Still have more sod to buy and lay. The boy is out of state now, so more sod will wait until his return. And plenty of indoor work got done too. Day after tomorrow I'll be getting the asphalt driveway seal coated. Keeping busy!

Since I can't lay sod, I decided to do more boat work. Got the new trim sender and gauge working, but I'm in the middle of tweaking the sender rotation to get the gauge indicating correctly. Started that this morning, but it got up to 90 degrees outside with high humidity, so I gave it up until this evening.

I also got the new temperature gauge and wiring tested and working. Just need to nail the wiring down. I have a loom being delivered today. I hope to be able to test the fuel sender tomorrow, weather permitting.

Over the winter and spring, I got a lot of outdoor stuff done. Major yard cleanup and trimming.

It "shouldn't" be too much longer before I get the MC back on the water. I hope. 🤪

I don't even remember what I was testing here.

But it must have worked! 😆

And I got my new Cyborg legs and cut the grass for the 1st time this year.

Started testing the new trim sender with the gauge.
4.jpg

Kept popping 20 amp fuses and finally tracked it down to a wire on the gauge with a very small piece of insulation scraped off. Easy fix. The gauge is working correctly now, but the sender needs tweaking.

Started the new sod layout by the new front steps.

I mocked up the new aluminum trim panel which is covering that gaping hole in the dash. Probably going to put a DIN sized cubby in there with a waterproof cover to keep my phone or whatnot. I'm also looking into plastic edging for the panel perimeter.

This is 2 pallets of new sod. That gap needs to be filled with another load. Maybe 2 more if I'm feeling froggy. 🐸

I cut the grass for the first time. This is the backyard. That big pile is just a part of the cleanup we did. It's about 20 feet in diameter and 7 feet tall.

In the early morning after the first cut. Looking better.

And my former neighbor stopped by for a visit and got on my tractor to do some work! He's a great guy. He moved to Oregon 5 years ago and it's been 4 years since I've seen him. We had a nice, but brief visit. He's the brother of my neighbor who lives nearby and helps me a lot. They're a great pair. I've known them both for almost 20 years.

Been a productive few months and work is still ongoing! 😎

I really need to get the MC out of the garage and back on the water. Besides the obvious fun factor, I need to get that garage cleaned and cleared and decluttered! I'm planning on a major cleanup and will be trashing a bunch and giving stuff away. And after that's done, I'm going to put my tractor in there for a little paint freshening.

Oh yeah, I'm also fighting Cogon grass, one of the worst top ten invasive grasses in the world. It can have 3 tons of underground rhizomes per acre!

I feel like I'm fighting the giant plant from outer space from the movie "The Little Shop of Horrors!"

It’s surprising how many hours it can take to get a boat the way you want it.
I have about 300hrs into a new to me boat. Thank goodness it’s pretty much done.
