    OMC Cobra, will not go out of reverse when running

    I had some problems with shifting. Mechanic replaced cable from top of engine down to gears. Now it will not go out of gear, until I shut engine off. Anyone got any ideas on what is wrong? I want to make sure I can be specific on what should be looked at. They can not get to look at...

    Control Arm neutral lock worn, Does not lock sufficient.

    The plastic stop for control arm is worn and no longer prevents movement of control arm from going into gear. Are there any replacement locking arms.

    I just noticed the thrust plate is sheared off. Is there an easy way to change it? I fear the stubs from the old one is in the unit. Is this a problem?

    Timing setting 1 btdc or 6 btdc . OMC 4.3L

    The manual has two different settings for timing. 1degree btdc and 6 degrees btdc. I see no explaination as to which should be used.     Engine Oils, what is best for an 86 4.3L 2b OMC ?

    I am looking for information on what are the best brands of oils to use in an older OMC 4.3L engine. Book calls out for 30W SF detergent. With some GM spec. that I can not find on any 30W oil.<br /><br />Would Synthetic be a good idea or just a good 30W SH/SI HD?<br /><br /> :rolleyes:

    86 , OMC 4.3L Oil and filter options

    The book says API SF 30W oil. I can find the OMC version for $5.50/qt. I did not find any other oil that was SF, or the other specs. most oil containers only had that the oil was great and met specifications, but did not say what specification. Is there any alternatives? like the synth oils...
