I'm thinking its a short in the switch or wires leading to pump. The back and forth motion of the shift lever can cause wear in the wires and cause a short. Usually when a relay goes bad the pump won't work at all. I hope this helps.
I think you might have a fuel problem with that being said it can be any number of things, check fuel pump pressure, pressure regulator, replace all filters and have injectors tester, and I agree with GA Boater you might have accidentally knocked a plug wire loose when replacing starter. I hope...
I would recommend checking the oil for any water in it and if its closed cooling check water for oil. My guess is that its a blown head gasket or worse case a cracked block

I believe a misfire code could also mean there is a problem in the distributer or the spark plug wires. I recommend you replace the cap ,rotor and plug wires then have the codes cleared. I hope this helps
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay in responding. UPDATE. the purple wire has power as well as the coil, there isn't a kill switch just the ignition and it wasn't in gear but I know that's a common mistake. We think we found the problem, a bad wiring harness on the motor, its a $1300...
My ignition has power but when key is turned fuel pump won't prime and the engine will not crank. Battery has been tested all fuses and relays are good and neutral safety checks out. please help I'm at a completer loss. thanks in advance
