    I too have strange gremlims that infected my personal boat/outboard. I did as stated above with ONE ADDITIONAL thing.......... Get a piece of 220 sandpaper and start at the battery- Disconnect BOTH positive and negative posts and sand them lightly...... sand every wire connector involved...

    I used photography as a hobby. I look back at the horrible picture quality of the old 126 cartridge cameras and the old flashcubes (Chances are most people here rarely heard of them) then the advent of 35mm (one of my favorites) and I probably have THOUSANDS of negatives and steamer trunks...

    1991 Stratos 290SF Not great speed

    Your motor MIGHT NOT be hitting on all cylinders. I have a V4 Johnson and with one spark plug not firing - i was only able to get 4300 rpms..... figured that out and now I am back to 5500 rpm. Outboards ALWAYS sound right but often are not firing on all cylinders. Best tool is a timing ligt...
