    Steering Wheel Locked Up

Step one: Disconnect cable from steering arm on motor. Will the motor turn freely both directions by hand? Hopefully it does because often freeing up a motor that will not turn in its bushings can be a lot more work than replacing a cable and helm. Step two: Will the wheel now turn freely...

    A wiring question

I retired HTC, back when we still did everything from damage control to real shipfitting, still had AD's, AR's, and AS's, and SIMA's weren't staffed by civilians. A lot of opportunities back then for us T**d Chasers.

Just noticed your signature picture. You and I might be the only HT's on this site. HTC-retired

    A wiring question

I personally would go with the 18 gauge, won't kill the budget and the heavier connectors would be less likely to be damaged over the years. No problem with keeping the lower amperage fuses.

    NYC Accident

I don't know what the current velocity was when she departed but if they had a complete propulsion and/or rudder failure that might have been the only way to avert the crash. Leaving port against the current would be best in an area of restricted maneuverability as that is when the ship has the...

    NYC Accident

A lot of unanswered question on how this could have happened. RIP to the 2 I am assuming midshipmen who were on the yardarms when this happened. https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/brooklyn-bridge-mexican-navy-ship-05-18-25-hnk

Polymer materials are ubiquitous in almost every aspect of modern life, and...

    Cross country trailering advice/tips

One common mistake is not having a proper jack and the right lug wrench if you have to change a tire. I had a friend who knew is stuff and before leaving Pennsylvania even went around the trailer with a lug wrench and gave every nut a half turn to be certain nothing was frozen. As luck would...

    Cruise lines

I can only imagine how noisy it must be below decks when they are working. Was it that bad?

All the cruises I have ever been on have never given me the choice of a king sized bed. Always ended up with this.

    Do I need a trailer?

I had a 11 or 12 foot Monkey Ward Sea King jon boat and a 3.5 air cooled Sears motor or an electric that I hauled around on roof racks on my '61 Olds for years in the late 60's and '70's. Fished big lakes and a lot of smaller electric only lakes with it. I was in my late 20's til early 30's...
