carbs are very clean gas lines are fine gas is fresh motor dies the first second i put into gear if i rev it then real quick like put into gear and goose it it runs ok just dies at idle under load

hey fellas after my last post about the 73 135 eating water pumps and decideing it was a bad exhuast gasket changed the water pump and gasket and ran good on ear muffs put it in the lake over heated bad this time figure the valves for the vernatherm melted again so i found another motor a 73 115...
i just replaced the water pump and exhaust gasket went to put into the water and try it now the thing wont start i have spark in the 1 and 3 cylinders but on the 2 and 4 the spark is there sometimes and sometimes not also the starter seems slow the motor cranks slow I think the battery was ok...
i just replaced almost every part of my cooling system all but the rubber deflectors was great for a little while then stoped pumping again opened up the lower unit and my brand new water pump and impeller are fried why? wasent ran outta water what makes a outboard eat water pumps

just bought a boat with a 135 power stroke two ran great for a couple of minutes but looked like it wasent shooting out water right ithink the two holes at the top then stoped all togther how do i check the cooling system ? :(
