1972 6hp johnson
when i bought my motor it didnt pump water ... so i changed the impeller and stat. (it started after one pull)
filled tank to max 3 gal. with 50:1 mix then once the tank got about half empty probs started.
would start then die at times but just the other day at a resort...
I had disconnected the shift linkage but the lower end will not come out I've called the local shop with the most experience and just said i need to disconnect the linkage bolts but the damn thing wont come out. please help i cant aford to send it to a shop right now.

I dont have a manual as of yet due to funds but i plan to get one.
my '74 johny 6hp i am trying to replace the impeller since the the water is not pumping at start up and a little after.
the lower end i found 4 bolts didnt find anymore to remove but the lower end would not come out.
please help!!
My motor seems to not get enough water in the engine.
on the lower end (where the screen is) only very little bubbles come out.
By the oil level plug bubble seem to come out strong.
the 'stat seems to be damaged but not sure, the spring on the stat you could pull out, also the stat does not...
I myself I'm more knowledgeable in vehicle engines then any other but all are similar with needing air/spark/fuel to run.
Cooling is what im wondering about since in a vehicle the thermo. opens when engine get to temp to cool engine.
with a outboard is that the same deal?

I am going to look at buying my first motor. I need to know what exactly to look for when im buying it.
I have 2 other motors but I've never bought one myself.

Seller says: pumps water well, basically mint running condition wants 275 obo.
I think it is a good deal...
