    Lost Remote Control

Lost all four of my remotes years ago. My kids got older and voted away, so I’m back to roughing it out myself…..

115hp 2 stroke and quick connects.

What Chris said. If you go with a quick connect, I prefer the Chrysler round connecters above the regular two pin connecters. They seal well and don't leak for me...

    Fuel smell after fueling up

Yes. My fuel lines were old, 1985 boat. I would get the same thing after fueling up. Couldn't find the issue at first. The fill line was cracked but not all the way through, but it was enough to create a strong smell. New hoses corrected it. Very similar to plastic waste holding tanks, the...

    Stupid me, no oil

Mount your bilge pump to a aluminum plate, attach the plate to the side of the stringer so next time you need to service it you can simply slide it out.

Free boat with history of leak... worth it? Will a survey catch issues?

I’ve seen a lot of boats in my lifetime that passed the survey with flying colors. Then they get to our shop with multiple issues. Including bad transom’s. Not all surveyors are competent, I’m sure there are good ones out there but not all of them know enough about boats. If they run and drive...

    1979 80HP Mercury

Had a similar issue like that. 35 hp, but doing the impeller, then lost gears. Pulled the lower unit three times. No go. Finally figured out the shifter itself came disconnected at the helm. Problem solved.

GS-249 Holding tank pump out question

In our area: the Great Lakes, you cannot pump it overboard. If you have that system you have to have the diverter valve locked or wired shut Or you will get a fine if coast guard inspection finds it. ive found a few like that. But some maceraters pump from one holding tank to another. Seen a...

    Excessive Oil/Grease by Alternator area.

I’ve always hated to work on customers boats that were an oily mess myself. I would clean them up before I touched anything. Sure it adds time to the process but when you clean it and fix the issues, the customer is overjoyed that it’s clean. Usually only takes an hour but yours is pretty bad...

Rebuild my choke to Electric. What with the "holes"

Hymn… thats weird. Never saw a hole there myself. If possible, tap some threads in it and install a plug.

Rebuild my choke to Electric. What with the "holes"

" Usually there is a heat sink under the first tube. Tin cover where the tube connects. I haven't seen one with another hole below myself.

    Oil Pressure Alarm

All the comments before are good. I've had customers who had alarms, a lot of times it's the drive reservoir float that is stuck from gunk. My usual service is removing the reservoir and flushing it out.

looking for help seaking chrysler 15hp no spark

Try cleaning the points first. They get unseen corrosion on them from sitting. Model and serial number would help us diagnose further. After three posts by you, you can post pictures.

    Bellows adhesive or not?

I never put adhesive on the exhaust bellow. I used to but it would pull off the transom end sometimes. Then I read that it's not needed. Volvo not so bad but does happen at times. Mercruiser seems to come off almost every time with adhesive.
