What Chris said. If you go with a quick connect, I prefer the Chrysler round connecters above the regular two pin connecters. They seal well and don't leak for me...
Yes. My fuel lines were old, 1985 boat. I would get the same thing after fueling up. Couldn't find the issue at first. The fill line was cracked but not all the way through, but it was enough to create a strong smell. New hoses corrected it.
Very similar to plastic waste holding tanks, the...
Mount your bilge pump to a aluminum plate, attach the plate to the side of the stringer so next time you need to service it you can simply slide it out.
I’ve seen a lot of boats in my lifetime that passed the survey with flying colors. Then they get to our shop with multiple issues. Including bad transom’s. Not all surveyors are competent, I’m sure there are good ones out there but not all of them know enough about boats. If they run and drive...

Try cleaning the points first. They get unseen corrosion on them from sitting. Model and serial number would help us diagnose further. After three posts by you, you can post pictures.
I never put adhesive on the exhaust bellow. I used to but it would pull off the transom end sometimes. Then I read that it's not needed. Volvo not so bad but does happen at times. Mercruiser seems to come off almost every time with adhesive.
