i HAVE 2 LOWER UNITS FOR A MERC 402 '73s ONE IS LONG SHAFT THE OTHER SHORT. CAN I SWAP out just the shafts everything else is the same.unless the gears are different about to find out. just thought id ask if someone knew allready. ill let ya know if no one helps me

Im replaceing the stator on a 40hp merc. Does it matter where the flywheel has to go back on? theres no marks on it and the stator is round and has contacts all the way around it the fly wheel has 2 magnets on each side under it.
