I am thinking it is not. Not sure why it was there! I am putting boat in water tomorrow for a test run. Runs fine on muffs - but the true test is underway.
I am hoping that this solves my shifting issue (going from neutral to drive or reverse and the motor spits and sputters). The old...
I can not see where a "circlip" would work in this application. I took a picture before I started doing anything (attached to above post) and you can see the copper "U Clip" that fits over the coil/condenser/points and screw - but not sure where to source one. A part number is not called...
Thank you for the reply Kenny. It's funny that you suggested a small flat washer. That is exactly what I put under the wire bolt/screw in order to secure a good connection for the points/condenser and col wires.
I bought Johnson - Evinrude part #0987926 through Wholesale Marine (Points and...
First year tuning up our 1989 Four WInns 4.3 OMC Cobra. (ignition system).
I removed the distributor cap, Removed the screw for condenser hold down and removed condenser, backed off bolt/screw for points, condenser and coil wires. Removed hold down screw for points.
Now this is where I...
Well, I am happy to report that our sea trial went well yesterday after replacing the entire water pump assembly and hose, replacing the thermostat, verifying no clogs from an older chewed up impeller (fun taking power sterring hoses off! LOL), removing batwing exhaust manifolds to ensure they...
I suggest a leak down test instead of a compression test. Compression tests (when you have that much water in the oil) can be misleading in my experience.
I also suggest flushing the engine to get rid of the water before too much time goes by! You may have to do this flush a few times before...
OMC -
OMC I/O engines require the model number of the engine. The model identification plate can be found on the engine valve cover. The model number usually starts with 3 numbers followed by a sequence of letters. Once you have the model number go to CrowleyMarine.com and lookup your model...
I love that ift / transport cart you bought! I have searched them and they are a pretty penny. I'm thinking about building one without a lift on it, but at least a stand with a rolling platform under it.
Thanks Lou!
New water pump (complete) installed... (OEM)
New thermostat installed... (OEM)
Removed Power Steering oil cooler - no impeller pieces, yay
Flushed out hoses from the stern to the thermostat housing (housing removed) and vice versa - no cloggs.
Removed port and starboard batwings... There was...
Lou - your information is invaluable and gives me hope as to the longevity of a new exhaust system on my fresh water boat!
Was wodering how difficult it was to remove the nuts from the exhaust manifold studs?
Forgive my ignorance / lack of knowlege - but what is the VP Down Pipes? Do they...
Thank you Renken and Lou! I don't know what to expect when trying to remove the Exhaust Manifolds for inspection. I have done my fair share of Car Exhaust Manifolds and they were a nightmare - almost always broke a stud when removing. Has this been your experience as well? Or perhaps they are...
The Power Steering oil cooler is clear of any obstructions. I do question if this heat exchanger is defective (see attached picture) .
I need to flush the raw water inlet hose to outdrive (the one I disconnected at inlet to cooler).
I am just not sure if I need to remove anything besides the...
When comparing the new impeller with the old impeller (see pics) I noticed (besides the worn vanes) that the Drive Pocket was partially gone! I will be inspecting the inlet to the Power Steering cooler and flushing it out.
