For mercruiser stern drives about 1988..I just put the lower back onto the upper unit (upper already attached to the boat) had a little trouble lining up the bar that comes from the upper to the lower to adjust drive/neutral/reverse---what is the easiest way to check that they are lined up...
it seems that the trim tab adjuster screw on the top side came loose or fell into the hole and I can't get to it --any ideas on removal of this piece?--need to get it off to get to other bolt for separating the upper and lower units
How do you separate the upper and lower units? there are 5 main bolts that seem to hold them together. After loosening all 5 I could not get the 2 to separate. Am i missing a bolt or something? I now have disconnected the upper and lower as 1 piece from the rest of the boat as I had to check...
