Dumb question, is UP on the shift rod forward, or reverse?
(fork from here http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engine-repair-and-maintenance/johnson-evinrude-outboards/10425266-counter-rotating-engine-with-standard-prop )
So, will I do any damage to the lower unit by running the motor in reverse?
I think the prop that the last guy bought is a standard prop, and its on my counter rotating engine.
Either that, or I messed up something in the OMC controls when I changed the cable.
Can someone tell me what this thing is for? It says water intake, but often times its called an aspirator valve.
It just seems to hang in the back of the block hooked to the tell-tale.
Its #115 in this picture...
Just wondering what methods there are to releasing the bolts I'm using to clamp the transom in.
I'm planning on using a liberal amount of PB to glue the transom to the hull. Through bolts to hold everything tight, but gonna have to get them out after. Thoughts?
Bought a used boat and motor. Motor looks fine, decent compression, but the thermostat housings were taken off.
Can someone tell me where the hoses that come out of the housings are supposed to be routed?
Pictures would be awesome.
its a e200cxebi 2 stroke.
Thanks in advance.
What are your thoughts on cutting out the outside of the transom/hull instead of the inside?
I don't really want to lift the cap and floor in order to repair this transom. Can I go from the outside in?
Well, fixed the 15' boat, and sold it. Bought a 21' boat.
Needs a transom.
Question is, after seeing 2 boats with completely rotted out plywood transoms, yet any "real" wood in them is solid, why don't I use planks for the transom?
I'm thinking 2x12 planks, tabbed and glassed in.
Thoughts?
1991 Evenrude V6 2-stroke OB.
Bayliner Liberty (21' roughly 1991 as well)
Existing cable for the inboard is a rack+pinion type.
Need to purchase a new cable for the o/b.
Are they all the same (rack style)? Do all brands of outboards use the same setup?
I'm cheap (poor) and don't want to...
Are there any wires going to the control unit for temp/oil pressure?
Are there any coming off the engine somewhere I can connect to?
its a 1991 evenrude 200hp v6 2 stroke.
Thanks
Dave
So, my little oil injector pump on my merc 40 isn't working. So I bypassed it, and mixed oil with fuel.
From what I read, regular 2 stroke oil doesn't play well with Ethanol blended gasoline, and I've heard many (snowmobile) horror stories about engines seizing up.
So, I'm using $20/l full...
Can someone give me some alternatives on my temp switch?
1991 mercury 40 hp
The temp switch by the spark plug.
Every listing I see is $300 for this little sender..
Can I get another option please?
So, had my boat out for its maiden voyage today.
Ran great for a while, I shut down for a bit, and when I tried to start, the warning buzzer wouldn't stop.
Disconnected the sensor wire on the "head" of the cylinder (water jacket near plugs) No change.
Disconnected the oil float level alarm.. No...
