    kicker location

Depending on the boat it's a weight thing too, if my cockpit is starboard I'd probably want kicker on port.

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

Well I don't know if anyone is following along but to put this to bed in case it helps anyone. I replaced the pulsar coil since one of the crank sensors was giving an erratic reading, the unit came with the wiring harness that also feeds the CDI and the shift position sensor. When I replaced the...

Just learned that there is also the term "pulser coil assembly." Which contains the crank posn. sensors? I was thinking one could be out of adjustment, though I'm not finding gapping clearances in the manual...

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

EDITED below, I made a dumb dumb error in testing and assumed that a black wire was ground when it was in fact a signal wire, if you read already I've deleted the error and changed it... More testing and more testing: Replaced CDI with ebay one, it seemed to work for like 5 seconds and then...

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

Tested the CDI and stator output with the DVA. Stator is 16.2V on all three wires, normal according to the manual. CDI output is 125V to cyls 1+4, but erratic to cyls 2+3. So I'd call that close to a smoking gun. I have an ebay CDI arriving tomorrow, I'll update when I get it in and test 'er...

I'm awaiting a DVA adapter, didn't yet have one. I tried using the MAX function on my multimeter to test the stator and CDI output, but I don't think the readings are accurate with that method. One thing is for sure though, the output to the affected 2 cylinders from the CDI is abnormal/absent.

Right thanks for the correction, CDI. It's a 90hp. Would the erratic signal from the pinout of the CDI to the coil possibly be caused by the stator, or is it more likely to be the CDI? Is there a way to test this?

I am as of yet unfamiliar with stators. They can cause this kind of erratic behavior/surging? I'll look into that manual now... Edit: my understanding is that stators would not affect ignition on this particular motor, but I'm here to be schooled not to know things.

s/n 0T733923 Hi all, Coming in the other day it started acting erratic, would idle and then bog down hard as soon as I put it in gear. Limped home at 6 knots, admittedly longer than I should have with a bogging engine but it was getting late/dark. Assumed carbs since it's a Mercaha known for...

1964 Glasspar Seafair Sedan - minor restore w/questions.

Not much to update, little things here and there but it’s basically as the last pics and everything are shown. It came with the bow rail, I believed it to be stock but maybe someone added it…

Renovating the deck floor top layer

I used total tread, only had one quart (I have a small floor area) and wasn‘t able to get quite two coats on, but just about. It’s held up about 2.5 seasons, but it is starting to wear down a little. I’m going to just add some rubber mats soon for anti-fatigue so I won’t care about the paint too...

Peruse a bunch of the resto threads, as suggested. You’ll see what everyone else has gone through, and if it’s worth it for you to go through it too with this boat. Sounds like you plan to remove the floor? Do that and post pics, go from there…
