Thanks Bondo. I tested it today on the water it is pretty good. It could be better but maybe its just as good as I can expect for a Gen 1 setup. Unless I can get fresh skilled eyes on it, I an considering it done
I am having an issue. When shifting into reverse the shift interrupt switch does not move. It moves as expected in forward. The cables have their primary adjustments to specs. Not sure what to do.
I do have official Mercury Gen 1 Cables and a Quicksilver Commander controller. I splashed the boat yesterday and it does shift in and out of gear a lot easier but I do feel like it is a little Spongey or not as immediate of a shift response when docking. Is this normal? Will raising the...
I understand why that is important. Doesn't following the specs from the manual ensure that doesn't happen? If not, what are the finer tweaks/adjustments that should be made?
How far forward/reverse on the throttle controller should it travel when it goes into gear and then applies actual...
Update: Shifting in and out of reverse is much improved on muffs but must splash to find out. It does appear that shifting out of neutral forward or reverse is not immediate. What is normal for travel on the throttle handle forward or reverse before the dogs engage? Can I tighten?
Update: Mounting the control cable to the throttle does limit some of its travel. The travel from WOT Forward to WOT Reverse is 3 1/16". This is within spec. Time to mount to engine and continue calibration.
Update: I have a gen 1 mercury control cable. I removed and measured (163"). I picked up a new cable at the local boat store. I measured the complete travel of the cable not mounted to anything. It is greater than my old cable. Am I missing something? Will the cable travel be less when mounted...
I am having issues on my alpha 1 gen 1shifting in/out of reverse smoothly.
I checked the lower cable for slop. It was 3/8" and in spec. I set it center to center 6".
I moved to the upper cable or remote cable. The travel from WOT forward to WOT reverse is 3 1/4" I believe this makes it out of...
Updates: Got the flooring in, did a bunch of upholstery and ran out of materials. Go figure. I will be dynamatting the engine compartment and rewiring speakers soon. If the weather behaves, I will be painting the hull also.
I was only looking to fiberglass for potential added strength. I was hoingvto add a fishing seats mount in tge center of the engine hatch. Because of this I was goingvto add some structural supports on the under side to prevent sagging. Would this approach be enough without fiberglass over 32"...
Update: I worked on mocking up the sundeck sections and got them well coated in the OTF. I will make the access holes larger and more radiused. I am also going to put a u channel around the access holes for a cleaner look.
Questions:
If I am going to glass over the OTF treated wood, do I still...
