    Looking for a part (steering pin)

    I'm in communication with a guy on ebay. He asked if the pin was steel or aluminum. I'm surprised that some applications would use easy to wear aluminum. Mine seems to be stainless steel. Magnet doesn't stick, and it's impossible to scratch or dent the pin with a screwdriver. Waiting for his reply.

    I can call. But I'm near Montreal, and machine shops here have high rates and lots of work. Too bad I'm now retired, I had access to a machinist and a welder at my work before 'for free'. Ah the good ol days ;)

    I need to change the steering pin on my DP-SM because of wear. My Volvo dealer says the pin alone is not available anymore, that I need to buy the pin/bracket assembly which make it too expensive. Is there another manufacturer making that pin? #24 in the schematic:

    Thanks for the tip, I will do that. I was curious to know, those screws seem to be stainless steel. Do they tread into aluminum or there is steel insert in the aluminum. If aluminum, do the treads get damaged sometimes?

    I did, but there is no difference. I start to think it may be related to the outdrive being trimmed up, when I go anchor in shallow places. I'm removing the outdrive soon. The season is over here. I will examine the bellow. Is there a bellow on the shifter cable for a DP-SM?
