My AQ271 DP 290 won't trim up or down when I am under way but I can trim up or down out of gear. I have no leaks at my cylinders. It does hold its trim position under way under load it does not creep down in storage. I can get on plane with my trim tabs.
My distributer is very hot and when it gets hot it runs rough above 1500 rpm.before I replace the senser cap and rotor.any other reason for this to happen.
Any one use after market coil,mallory,seirra? There web sites don't cross part numbers to well. Is there a mercruiser coil that will work? Part numbers would help a lot. I do not have points or a balist resistor.
Ran 50 minutes at 3200 rpm out of the bay slowed and idled ran fine shut it down. Fired it up for the return trip ran fine for 10 minutes at 3200 rpm then started to bog and drop rpms but not stall then pull it self back up to 3200 then repeat again. Ran back at reduced rpm very slow. Back on...

got a new caltric starter for my aq271. Its smaller but will bolt up but its drive gear has 11 teeth stock unit has 9. Is there an off set to account for this. anyone use one ?

May have found a used fork. I wish I had answers to why this thing failed. I checked for any binding it turns freely although the pawl is not working correctly. When I turn the drive to left or right and lift it comes up. Salt water !

As you can see its a question of drive the rest of the stem up or down. I have little room inside (swim platform)to work with.
Just as I came up on plane hit about 30 mph my sterring fork broke off at the shaft /stem that the arm mounts on. Put us on a hard 180 turn till I yanked the throttle back. Nice 2nd ride on the carver 2157.These things break often? need a new fork #852852 and the little gear for the trim sender...
