Boat has sat more than it's been used unfortunately. I see that you can get the OEM fuel side rebuild kits, any experience with these? I'd also thought about rebuilding and then just going to pre-mix. I'm more concerned that the oil portion is next to fail, so am I better off disabling the oil injection rebuild the fuel side and just pre-mix?

These VRO units are quite simple.---And there is not much that can go wrong with the oil side.-----Take it apart to see what is wrong.----Repair as needed.

I had the same issue. My '98 Johnny OMS pump was leaking raw fuel. Being that it was 27 years old, I replaced it.

Upon further review, the oring where the raw fuel line attaches was leaking.

I'll pull it and order the OEM rebuild kit. I can't complain the thing is 27 years old, not many mechanical items these days last anywhere near that long. It will be a few weeks before I get to it, will report back with results.

Thanks for the input and help, great forum!

Just stopped by the local shop I've used for years, they were a Johnson/Evinrude dealer for years now sell Yamaha.. Anyway, owner (mechanic) told me that maybe 50% of the time the VRO kit fixes the leak due to wearing on the housing, not that the parts are substandard. I have nothing to go on but what others are saying, anyone run into this before?
