Grease the bendix good they do get stuck..

If your engine needs more than a few seconds of cranking every start. Then the starter starts to cycle a lot ang heat up over time . Drying out the grease.
It is difficult to save money by not keeping the engine in perfect tune up.

It seems that the main problem was the battery not being totally charged. I do have one additional question, some of the activities that I will use this boat is trolling for sand bass, I usually troll threw the schools of fish with a deep diving lure that goes down 10-15 feet. I am wondering if I troll for an extended period of time, will the battery still charge as it should? My greatest fear now is getting stuck out on the lake and the bendix doesn't work. I have a spare battery that I can take with me,along with cables for a jump. Will that work? Any ideas?

Dop not grease the bendix

Just give it a good run every 30-45 minutes of trolling to generate some stronger current to charge the battery . You can always brings a NOCO booster pack to get you going. I boosted an old Evinrude V4 with a NOCO 1000 amps booster. Hard to believe but these small packs can start car engines, diesels etc.. in winter !!
