2 years ago I purchased a 2020 GMC Terrain to use as a daily driver instead of my Yukon. I was surprised when I did the calculations. I have saved about $2600 in fuel and a bit more in maintenance over the last 2 years. But when we add on the additional insurance and registration (gotta keep the Yukon for towing the boat and since put a plow on it for taking care of snow in the winter), my savings wasn't quite that good ... still almost $1000 per year savings ...

Rented 2025 Camry Hybrid LE to drive to Chicago and back a couple of weeks ago.

Nice car....hard to tell when it went from electric and ice mode.
Got a pretty impressive 46-47 MPG. My Civic EX only gets 35 MPG

I love Adaptive Cruise Control, Touch Screens and Full Self Driving!

I also love EVs especially how my Rivian pulls my 6500# Cobalt

Just out of curiosity, was there a recall for the front end of those? I still nearly once a week see a rivian with the front wheel sheared off in some capacity on the side of the road. Like a ball joint or control arm or something.

Those coal powered vehicles are cool. Until you have to stop and shovel coal into them for several hours to get another 200 miles.

Problem is, if they allow the reflection of a HUD through, then they aren't doing their job eliminating the reflections on the inside of the windshield and the glare from many surfaces outside.
Wife got some supposedly polarized glasses once so she could see the HUD, but rotating a polarizing filter and never seeing the transmitted light reduced revealed that they were not at all polarized. Thankfully, they were purchased on Amazon, so they were returned without question.
I do remember on the last boat the HDS9 display was manufactured without polarized glasses wearers in mind. If I tilted my head, it would be visible. At normal angles, it would just be mostly dark. Funny that the manufacturers of automotive displays seem to understand (the non HUD displays), but not so much the multifunction marine display manufacturers.

I had to look it up since I never saw mention of it. Apparently there were a few vehicles in 2022 that had an improperly torqued fastener on the control arm. These were Gen 1 vehicles. I have a Gen 2. This is one of the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever driven. It has an air suspension where you can vary the height and an active hydraulic suspension which is controlled be vehicle computer. Going over speed bumps is amazing and the suspension software is always being tweaked to make it better. I get a software upgrade monthly.

There are a lot of Rivians where I live. Never seen one with the issue you mentioned. At my home in Lake Tahoe, 3 of us in a row all own one.

Yeah, it was a stretch where it was nearly one a week. I see a lot of broken down vehicles in my travels, just saw a lot of that model down and it caught my eye.

They are comfy. If I could charge at home it would be a little more enticing but it's just inconvenient enough it's not worth it (for me) at this time. Been in most of the the EVs on the market now, and they're fine.

There is no way I would buy an EV if I couldn't charge from home. I have a few homes and every one has EV charging at it. On my main home, I have solar so it's pretty inexpensive to own an EV.

You must have a sophisticated charging system or do all your driving at night and charge in the day.

A good friend of mine moved to Az and had an all solar house with a Tesla wall set up. He made so much power he couldn't use it all! He did have a Tesla but also had several gas powered cars as well.

I quit carrying my key fob because the horn on my truck was always going off and the doors were unlocked when I returned to my vehicle. Neither has happened since I started leaving the fob at home. The last thing I want is a key with fob functions built in.

My 21 had 3 levels of parking assist alarm and could pull into my lean to without it going off. The 25 has 6 levels and can't get close to anything without it going off, and like everything else no adjust, either on or off. Keep the front off most the time, like the rear when I'm backing out around the court house square

No video, but some idiot tried to run over the blower backing the golf cart out of the garage the other day.
