    Then that Q-jet is older than your boat by 9 years Your Mercruiser would have most likely come with a webber (almost drop in replacement for Q-jet I would do the 1409 for most simple drop in (Who am I kidding.....I'm a Holley guy)

    is it a marine motor? the last Q-jet to ever roll off a factory floor was 1989. If you are thinking of swapping the heads, then I would also swap the intake, ditch the 3" of spacers and go with a better intake and then...... worry about the carb.

    AVS and AVS 2 carb are NOT marine that should be swapped out for a marine carb block is most likely a 1995 block (vortec block with the non-vortec heads) found in a few hundred thousand 1995 trucks

    I would swap the heads from the current heads you have to vortec heads and pick up another 30+ hp

    use $1500 minimum for just a transom however the stringers are most likely toast as well..... and the flotation foam is most likely waterlogged if this is a 80s or 90s built wellcraft, the quality wasnt there from the beginning.

    No need. just keep the spare tires and a bunch of stuff in the bow of the boat to move the CG forward, however add tongue weight. if tongue weight is less than 6% the trailer will sway with a 2000# boat/trailer load, I would have no problem with a 400-500# tongue weight

    are the seats and transom going back into the boat first? referencing the pics from post #4. the seats add structure to the boat if the boat is only rated for 15hp. then look for a 15hp motor

    in addition to the right tools, a good jack and a spare hub. Have a second spare tire. both times hauling a boat from Wisconsin to Florida, I had 2 flats along the way. a piece of rebar going thru a construction zone, and a screw back in 2008. tread delamination and a roofing nail in 2012

    BBC Gen VI are all rollers. (1996-2000) BBC Gen V are sometimes rollers (1991-1995) BBC Mark 4 are flat tappet (1965-1990) SBC vortec are all rollers (1996-2000) and beyond SBC 1988-1995 may be an occasional roller Lou covered the 4.3 All LS and LT motors are rollers
