How are public boat ramps monitored and maintained in your area?

Our local county government in their infinate wisdom recently opened up a very nice park and boat ramp. There is a dock to fish off of, a decent ramp, a floating dock, plenty of parking, covered picnic tables, a paved path through the woods for walking or skating, and a really nice playground...

    Fuel Supply Issue

I've already talked to TD about this, but I want to check with everyone to see if they have had the same experience. The other day, my wife and I went out on the boat. When we cleared the no wake zone I opened up on the throttle and the motor stalled and shut down. I checked the primer bulb...

    Well....I'm a ramp hog....

Not really....We took my lil' 16 footer out for its maiden voyage today. It's been a long time coming since I've had to do a little work on it. My parents told me about a new ramp that just opened up near them. I decided to go check it out. Once we got there we pulled to the trailer...

Wicked Feleena....how's that for a boat name?

I've been trying decide what to name my 1985 16' bowrider. Its new to me, and hasn't been name yet. Just like everyone else I'm sure, my wife has suffered from boat widow syndrome. She has referred to it as the mistress. Well growing up I was a real big fan of the song "El Paso". Granted I...

    Reversing the snip....

Ok this is a VERY strange question to be asking on the forum but what the heck..... My wife and I had our 3rd child two & a half years ago. We agreed then this was the last (both of us agreed). A few months after he was born I went and had a vasectomy. Now my wife has changed her mind and...

    Throttle cable

I've been working on my new to me boat for a couple of months now and pretty much have most things ironed out. What I have noticed recently is that when I lift my fast idle lever, or push the throttle forward, it does not seem to cause the throttle linkage on the the motor move very much. The...

I am now a pre mixer

Just wanted to take a second to thank Tashasdaddy for teaching me some basics on my 1985 90hp Johnson. Under his guidance I was able to rebuild the carbs, he took the VRO out of service and converted me to pre mix, and we adjusted the timing. The motor is running great now. Thanks again TD...

Negotiating - Like it or Hate it?

Just curious how people feel about negotiating things. Primarily buying and selling items. I had to take a 3 day class in negotiating, and I was surprised to see how the United States, as a whole, does not like to negotiate anything. As far as the world is concerned we are not "negotiators"...

Definately one to ponder.....(a joke for a Wednesday afternoon)

At the Wedding A little boy, at a wedding looks at his mom and says, "Mommy, why does the girl wear white?" His mom replies, "The bride is in white because she's happy and this is the happiest day of her life." The boy thinks about this, and then says, "Well then, why is the boy wearing...

    Trim switch question

VERY ignorant question here, but is there any reason you can't replace the trim switch (up/down) with a three post mom. on/off/mom. on switch?

'85 Johnson 90Hp VRO- Starts, runs for 2 seconds...shuts off

I took my "new to me" boat out today for the first time. I have had other issues(mainly due to my new boater ignorance) since I purchased it, but was able to get everything running in my driveway this weekend. Today I took it took it to the boat ramp for the first time. I fired it up, then it...

    Passing forward the luck....

I've had a bit of good luck today and I want to pass it forward with a blessing to all of you. Here it is: May there always be work for your hands to do May your purse always hold a coin or two; May the sun always shine on your windowpane; May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain; May...

Opinion of an older Country & Western Album

For starters I'm only 32, but I tend to like a lot of the throw back music from the 40's & 50's. One album I absolutely love is the 1959 "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" album by Marty Robbins. Every song on this album is great. Anyone else ever listen to it? Anyone else a Marty Robbins fan?
