    Flywheel removal

I have a 1968 Evinrude 9.9 sportwin and I'm having trouble getting the flywheel off. I'm using a flywheel (strap) holder, a 24" breaker bar (on my puller) with PB Blaster and it's not budging. Can I use heat or will that destroy the flywheel? I doubt this flywheel has ever been taken off.

I have a 1990 4hp Johnson with a scored cylinder wall. Bottom cylinder has 138lbs. and the top cylinder has 90lbs. I took the head off and I can feel the scoring (cracked ring from carbon build up I think). Can I have just that cylinder re-bored and leave the other one alone or do I need to...

    crankcase pressure '67 evinrude 6hp

1967 6hp Evinrude Would a leaking upper crankcase seal cause this motor to quit running after about 5 minutes at WOT? It starts hard after it quits and will run fine for 5 to 10 minutes and then quit again. The gas tank vent is open, I have a new fuel pump, fresh gas/oil, new points, plugs...

easier way to start a small outboard

I like to work on small Johnson and Evinrude outboard motors as a hobby. I was wondering if anyone has ever used an electric drill with a 3/4 socket to spin the flywheel and start a motor that way? Sounds crazy but I have a bad shoulder and am looking for an easier way to start small motors...

1967 Evinrude 6hp lower unit seal question

I made a mistake in an earlier post by saying this is a Johnson motor when in fact it's an Evinrude 1967 6hp. I have one of each and forgot which motor I was asking about. I have included a picture of the lower unit from this Evinrude. My question is when I remove the gears and the shift rod...

    1969 Johnson 4hp impeller

I took off the lower unit and tried to take out the two stainless steel screws that hold the pump cover. They both were stuck bad. I believe this is the original water pump and has never been serviced. (I worked for a half hour just to get the pump cover to release from the casting). So, the two...
